There's probably a very easy solution for that: let's have a link like this:

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/bitcoin/bitcoin-latest/bitcoin-latest-win32-setup.exe<http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/bitcoin/bitcoin-0.8.1/bitcoin-0.8.1-win32-setup.exe>

Of course the downside is that it isn't immediately obvious which version
you are downloading, you can be pretty sure then that it's the latest one.
Some projects that I know use that notation.
