On this very same topic, the one that bothered the hell out of me was to
simply get a list of packages that are installed, seams simple, can't get
anything like that out of man... it's just 'rpm -qa'.

also as a side note, i hardly ever use the '-i' switch, it's pretty much
useless, i usually use 'rpm -Uhv [package].rpm'. the '-U' is update.
