Another perhaps simpler solution is to pick other fonts in your netscape
preferences:  go to Preferences under Edit, select Fonts under
Appearance, and fiddle to your hearts content.

I find that New Century Schoolbook (Adobe) size 12 for variable-width and
Courier (Adobe) size 12 for fixed width look just fine.  Don't forget to
press the "Use default fonts, over-riding document specified fonts"
button.
