Since someone asked, I tough others might want to see. To switch the
capslock key and the ctrl key on a standard keyboard under X windows,
insert the following in your .bashrc, or .profile, or .tchsrc, or
.xsession, or whatever it is your shell reads when you log in/start up
Xwindows:

# Swap Caps_Lock and Control_L

    xmodmap -e "remove Lock = Caps_Lock"
    xmodmap -e "add Control = Caps_Lock"
    xmodmap -e "remove Control = Control_L"
    xmodmap -e "add Lock = Control_L"

# Make Alt the Meta key

    xmodmap -e "keysym Alt_L = Meta_L Alt_L"

You can apparently also swap them when you're not under X, but it's more
involved and I haven't quite figured it out yet. If someone knows, please
tell me.
