A new language called "Cyclone", basically a redo of C, is being
developed, implementing at a lower level the safety features in such new
higher level languages as Java.  in particular, the compiler can actually
analyze the function of code in order to prevent accidental buffer
over-runs.  Pretty damn cool.  Check it out:
