The problem w/ ascii porn these days is there's no artistry. I mean back in the day, the cool ascii images were all done carefully by hand by guys in dark corners of the internet. Some of them were _really_ impressive.
Nowadays, you just take some random usenet image, run it through an ascii image converter, and presto i made ascii pr0n! http://www.roqe.org/jitac/ Now I am actually impressed by the guys that made the software that does the conversion, that's pretty neat, and there was some college student that made a 3d ascii library, and then produced ASCII quake. That's a cool waste of time. But people who sit around taking other peoples free porn, and then turning it into ascii to try to impress other dorks are pretty lame IMHO. Now if you could encode the original image data into the ascii stream, so it could be turned back into a JPEG or something, that would be cool! Great way to foil those new skin-tone porn filters.
