Sure the web often sux, but every once in a while you come upon a site
that makes you weep for joy, the pure informational richness and easy
availablity of it all. Such a site is http://www.usgs.gov, the home page
of the US Geographical Survey. From a functional/UI point of view, it's
not all that great. What *is* great is the sheer amount of interesting
crap they have on the site that's not all that hard to access---want to
know about recent or historic trends in seismological, volcanic or
tornadic activity anywhere in the US, or anywhere around the world for
that matter? Look no further. Need an up-to-date atlas of all current
Antarctic research? There it is.

This is seriously cool shit. And it's all there for free on the web!

"And the ladies treat me kindly,
And they finish me with tape,
But deep inside my heart
I know I can't escape.

Awww, mama, can this really be the end?
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues again."
