Thorsten, Yeah, there are a number of problems if you are trying to installed gcc from scratch on Solaris. If i remember correctly, i think the root of the problem has something to do with Solaris's many-to-many threading system or something like that. Cvoid probably has a better idea of how that works than i do.
The thing that i found solved most of the common problems was having the right default Solaris development packages installed. Although i never finished that document, i did note them in bits: http://www.sugoi.org/bits/index.php?bit_id=12 If you don't have the install disks, not to fear, i gathered all of the packages into a tarball that you can download from there.
