That is SO cool..! Huh, I don't know about those x330 prices though.. We get our x330's for less than $2K ($1500/1600 I think) new. Or maybe that's a newer x330 yr talkin bout, cause our 1u's only have 2 5.25" sled bays.. They can come with a lotta options that I dont use though like the ibm-serveraid or fddi stuff..
Also I had ta set up a mac osx server rack last year, there's some company (whose name escapes me at the moment, sorry) who sells rackmountable enclosures for their regular cases.. sure took up a lot more than 1u though! -d -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of tack Sent: Tuesday, May 14, 2002 11:34 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [bits] apple 1u rackmount, raid server to follow here's the price comparison from the presentation: Dell PowerEdge 1560 $4277 - 3 bays IBM eServer X330 $5186 - 3 bays Sun Fire 280R $19590 - 2 bays Xserve $3999 - 266MHz DDR SDRAM, 4 bays means more total capacity also take note, this is apparently the first dual RISC srever in 1U, resulting in 630 gigaflops/42U rack (that's an apple blurb...so take that with a grain of salt). tack On Tue, 14 May 2002, Lorin wrote: > > http://www.apple.com/xserve/ > > Damn those things are sexy.
