A nice article on tuning your HD perdormance using hdparam on the O'Reilly net : http://linux.oreillynet.com/lpt/a/272
On three of my machines, the tweaks didn't make a difference. On one, the harddrive throughput increased 4 fold. Since that one is my NFS file server for all the other machines, I'm hoping to see system wide gains. Here was the magic command suggested by the article that gave me the 4fold boost: /sbin/hdparm -X66 -d1 -u1 -m16 -c3 /dev/hda JDH _______________________________________________ Bits mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.sugoi.org/mailman/listinfo/bits
