Hey brahm, I just encountered my first .torrent file in the wild.
I was downloading stuff off of IRC, and an episode of Smallville was being distributed using BitTorrent. It was pretty sweet, my download started immediately at about 10k, and bumped up to 26k when somebody else started downloading too.
