If you're using OS X and you've got AFP in your shop, they've set up the appleshare client so that it's built in, you just have to edit the config:

We've tried this in our shop because we have a lot of wireless powerbook users. There's a performance hit in getting directory listings in the finder. Mmmmm... trade offs. It works though even if you're using a non-standard afp service (we're using netatalk on freebsd).
