This is a long shot, just wondering if anyone has installed the Oracle
HTTP Server from the companion CD, onto Solaris 10?
Oracle 10g Database is installed and running fine.
Following explicit instructions on setting up the HTTP Server, it just
won't start and the error logs are a laugh, they just basically say it
didnt start...
Tool type is: Recommended.
The command being spawned is:
'/u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/companion_1/opmn/bin/opmnctl startall'
opmnctl: starting opmn and all managed processes...
================================================================================
opmn id=pneuman:6202
0 of 1 processes started.
ias-instance id=standalone
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
ias-component/process-type/process-set:
HTTP_Server/HTTP_Server/HTTP_Server
Error
--> Process (pid=18313)
failed to start a managed process after the maximum retry limit
Log:
/u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/companion_1/opmn/logs/HTTP_Server~1
Invalid Exit Code. The following result code will be used for
configuration assistants: 1
Configuration assistant "Starting HTTP Server" failed
Launching 'opmnctl startall' just produces the same error.
I've bumped up the LogLevel and watched the Apache log, but it actually
thinks its started. The opmn/logs file says:
--------
05/08/03 17:13:25 Start process
--------
/u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/companion_1/Apache/Apache/bin/apachectl
start: execing httpd
But theres nothing. Google searches aint turning up anything either.
The home dir is different for the HTTP installation, and i've
doublechecked all environment variables are either set or unset as they
should be.
I suspect its do with Solaris 10, but I may be clutching at straws there.
The other possibility is some port conflict with the Oracle DB, but if it
is, it would bloody help if it would log it somewhere!
Theres other log files which i've also looked in. I've pretty much
followed all online troubleshooting guides i could find and
uninstalled/reinstalled with all default values and still teh same.

too tired for the day and going home, so just thought i'd put it out there
in case any of you have experienced similar?
cheers!
