Digium Buys Switchvox
By Doug Mohney
09.28.07

AstriCon 2007, Phoenix, Arizona - Digium (www.digium.com) has purchased
Switchvox (www.switchvox.com) in a move expanding the company's presence in
the SMB market and securing a ready-made, customer-tested Asterisk turnkey
solution.
Terms of the deal were not announced, but Joshua Stephens, CEO of Switchvox,

said all the staff of his company would be joining Digium and "If anything,
we will be growing." Stephens will join Digium as a Vice President while
Switchvox's San Diego office will become a west coast regional office for
Digium as well as its primary driver of turnkey solutions for the SMB
market. In the short term, Switchvox will retain its own hardware line for
delivery of its solution.

>From a strategic perspective, Digium needed to move its technology from
enabling early adopters with its technology to providing a turnkey solution
that doesn't require extensive support to setup and operate.

Digium President and CEO Danny Windham said the purchase of Switchvox was
the culmination of a process that evaluated around 30 acquisition candidates

that were trimmed down to a half dozen serious prospects, with Switchvox
being the best fit. "It had the best product, tested by customers in the
field, rhwie vision matched ours, and they had a team of people that were
extremely complementary," said Windham.

Stephens was equally complementary. "They made us feel good," he said.
"We're
all on the same page. It was a motivator to do the deal."

Digium expects to incorporate Switchvox's software technology into Asterisk,

including elements of Switchvox into the open source version of Asterisk.
Currently, Switchvox has an installed base of around 1400 customers and
around 65,000 end points in operation.
