There are huge benefits to doing this and it depends on where the group is going exactly. If there are big visions for the future, then yes, do it. If it is more of the same, with incremental improvements, I would keep it as is. This will be a LOT more work. As well, the warm and fuzzies will likely stop soon afterward since it becomes less of a 'for the love of it' and more of a 'because I have to'.
If things do grow and the momentum is there, then I do it being of benefit. As well, could always start this without TAUG at the heart of it but linked... but not sure where your vision is.
