Erik,
As for the WIP330, I have one and I've had mixed results with it.

It doesn't support WPA2, which I'm now using on my Access Points, only WEP.

I'm not using NAT to talk to my local Asterisk system, but I get one-way audio depending on whether the WIP330 is the recipient or originator of a call. I can't remember now if it works when it originated a call, but not when it was the recipient of a call, or vice versa. It did work correctly originally, but I'm not sure in upgrading firmware on the phone or upgrading versions of Asterisk exactly where it stopped working. Haven't found the solution to this since it wasn't a priority.

Since it is no longer in the Linksys product line, there are no new firmware updates. You can't even find it on the Cisco website!

It has a jack for a wired headset, but I was unable to ever find a suitable headset. Articles I found suggested that Linksys would have offered one, but that never happened as far as I can tell.

I think I'd go with the suggestions of the Snom, or a regular cordless telephone plugged into an ATA. The Snom is the one I'm looking at to replace the WIP330.

I've never used it, but the WIP310 seems to be the current product in the Cisco line. The old Linksys/Cisco SPA9xx products have been EOL'ed by Cisco, but the WIP310 still seems to be a live product. The docs say it supports WPA2, so that would overcome one of my problems, although I still don't know about finding a headset that actually works with it.

Regards,
Doug.

...and where to buy one. This article is 4 years old and I'm sure there are
better ones out there now.

I suppose if somebody ever makes a good WiFi client for BlackBerry (sorry
VoipSwitch/Vippie) it would obviate the need for such a device. There are
ones for iToy as well, but can't recommend it to people who don't have that
kind of budget.

Thanks,
Erik.

Does anybody know of a good WiFi SIP phone, and more importantly where to
get it? I know Linksys was making one a while ago, but they seem to have
not taken off.
