A little over a month ago, I posted about URL Redirection, DNS
manager, and other RSP software I was working on.

Unfortunately, a medical issue involving my eyesight prevented me from
doing any work on these software programs from just a couple days
after posting that. Until just the last few days, I've been having to
limit my time in front of computer monitors, but am now ready to get
back to work on this code.

What is done right now is:

-The redirection engine itself, which supports standard
non-framed forwarding, framed "cloaked" forwarding with
configurable Cloaking Titles and meta tags and a page for
non-frames enabled browsers to get to the redirected website as
      well.

-The end user interface, which lets the end user login, select
the domain they want to manage dns for, then edit the redirection
url, meta tags, turn cloaked redirection on or off.

-The dns zone file generator, which generates the dns zones from
the mysql tables for the domains managed by this system.

-The SQL tables for the full dns manager are also in place, and
the zone generator that will generate the zones for those
      domains as well.

What is partially completed:

-The Full DNS end user control panel. Currently it supports
setting the IP Address for the primary zone hostname and an
optional wildcard entry. Adding additional specific A record
hostnames will be implemented by the end of the evening tonight.

-Integrated Email Redirection, end user front end, with support
for Exim users who are using the vmail-sql type setup for virtual
domain email services. A separate module for Sendmail's
virtusertable setup will be ready shortly. Other MTA's can be
      supported easily enough.

-An automated password reset script, which asks the end user a
challenge question, and if it gets the right answer back will
email a new password to the user for their account.

To Do List:
-Ability to manage other DNS record types, including CNAME, NS
Delegations, MX records. Other types can easily be supported if
they are required by the RSP.

-Ability to configure an optional "ad-bar" frame at the top or
bottom of cloaked redirections, which can be disabled or
configured on a domain by domain basis.

-Admin Control Panel - I've been using phpMyAdmin to manage the
data in the tables, but that's not the best way to do that,
especially for RSPs who have staff who should not be trusted with
direct database access but need to be able to have access to do
things like reset passwords, disable service for abuse, etc.

What I've done, to help keep everyone informed, and to let people who
will actually use this have some input into how it is developed, is to
create a closed discussion list. Those who join the list and provide
feedback will get a sizable discount on the end price, and optional
access to beta versions of the software that are available now to
start offering the redirection service.

To join the list go to http://lists.wxsoft.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
to join the list.

I apologize to everyone who may have felt ignored last time I posted
about this, literally two days later I was diagnosed with a medical
condition that required immediate attention, including the procedures
on my eyes. But I'm back now, and aggressively working on this.
