Dear Rodney,

If I may offer my unscientific (though considered) responses to your various
questions (see below with my comments marked-off in >>> <<< ):

>>> Most "appraisals" for domains are worth bupkus. A domain is worth whatever
someone is willing to pay, if anything, and that varies +++widely+++ depending
on the immediate need, desire, and resources of a given buyer to acquire that
name. There is as of yet, and probably never will be, any real science or even
art of domain appraisal, despite the complex rules that some so-called
appraisers have developed. Certainly nothing akin to, say, comparative market
analyses as practiced in the real estate business. Domains just are not part
of a "neighborhood" as are real properties, and nearly endless varieties for
most concepts can be generated with a little creativity and no cost besides
registering them. By the way, seven-letter domains are nothing outstanding.
Now if you had a really good three-letter one, maybe that would be a lot easier
to sell. <<<

> - where would you sell that?

>>> Wherever you can. There are after-market sites, like afternic.com, that
specialize in domain auctions. But you can be prepared to wait a VERRRYYYY
long time to get a bid, if at all, if you don't have a great name or one that
someone happens to want, and which is seen quickly. Some people have sold
domains on auction sites like eBay. Some (like I have done) post them to this
list. Some put them on their own sites. Some tell their friends. Some spam
for buyers (ugh) or, in a more refined but related mode, contact companies
directly that you think MIGHT be interested in that particular name. I
wouldn't be surprised if someone has sold domain names at flea markets. Maybe
you could sacrifice small animals to the domain gods (not recommended)? <<<

name. It's more-or-less entirely up to the buyer.

Don't know if that helps, and I'm sure there will be dissenting views (and
maybe someone actually knows of something that works -- I'd love to hear about
it, if so) . . .

Good luck!
