i'd estimate that, as the economic trends of last year or two of NASDAQ stock prices may illustrate, free sites are startlingly unprofitable. this correlation between revenue and profit may or may not apply to the socioeconomic dynamics of other countries, but i think it can be said now with some confidence that corporate success in a capitalitic systems is, in some obscure way, actually dependent on the presence of a revenue model. go figure. hth, -dave
