John McCain's health care plan isn't really a plan at all. Only the healthiest
would be covered, and it would weaken employer-paid plans. People with
pre-existing conditions would be aggregated in "risk pools," where they would
face high deductibles, long waiting lists and limits on payouts. McCain's
proposal makes no sense from a public health perspective and little sense from
a financial one. Trudy Lieberman analyzes McCain's proposal in detail this
week. And Jason Rosenbaum exposes the ludicrous strategy McCain's health care
adviser has for reducing the number of uninsured Americans.
