>From the editors:
John McCain's choice to put a woman on the Republican ticket with him -- a
first for the GOP -- was heartening for about a minute. That's the length of
time it took for the media to begin reporting just how destructive and
repressive a Sarah Palin vice presidency could be. She, like John McCain, wants
to overturn Roe v. Wade. But she doesn't want to stop there. Palin is so
anti-choice that she opposes abortion even in cases of rape or incest. Asked if
she would feel that way if her own daughter -- a then-14-year-old Bristol Palin
-- were raped, Sarah said yes. Sarah Palin is a threat to women's health and
freedom and is a clear example that one need not be a man to be sexist.
AlterNet will be following Palin closely in the coming weeks and months --
should she make it that far -- so bookmark alternet.org/reproductivejustice to
stay on top of the story. We have so much at stake.
