Obama Effigy Found Hanging At University

*NEWBERG, Ore. -- *A life-sized cardboard cutout of Sen. Barack Obama was
found hanging from a tree Tuesday on the campus of George Fox University,
school officials said.
An employee at the Christian university found the likeness of Obama attached
by fishing line to a tree near Minthorn Hall, according to the school. A
sign taped to the cardboard cut-out read, "Act Six reject."
Act Six, a George Fox scholarship and leadership program, awards
full-expense scholarships to students from the Portland area. In a statement
Wednesday morning, school officials said 17 Act Six students are enrolled at
the university. Many of the students, but not all of them, are minorities,
officials said.
It's unclear who placed the cardboard cutout in the tree. University
administrators asked that anyone with information contact the school's
Office of Student Life.
Rob Felton, a representative of the university, said the school's president
will speak to students about the discovery Wednesday at 11:15 a.m.
Few people on campus saw the cardboard cutout before the employee removed
it, according to Felton's statement. School leaders condemned the display.
About 1,800 undergraduate students attend George Fox University in Newberg.
It's the third-largest private college in Oregon.
According to the school, nearly 25 percent of students in this fall's
incoming class are minorities.
