When you've got Barack Obama running and Democratic Senate challengers poised
for victory in red states like Alaska, North Carolina and Kentucky, you know
it's an election for the ages.
The polls all show that we have a chance to win at least 11 seats. That's more
than enough for the filibuster-proof majority we will need to bring some of the
most important changes of our lifetime.
It's time to step on the gas, so we can win all these races.
The DSCC must raise $2.5 million by October 10 to keep each and every
competitive race in play and operating at full strength. An immediate infusion
of cash in the next week is absolutely critical to getting to that big
majority.

If Democrats win nine seats, we'll have our first 60-seat majority in 30 years
and the power to deliver universal health care, energy independence and an
economy that creates prosperity for all
But Republicans see the writing on the wall too. That is why they have
launched the most desperate, scurrilous campaign of character assassination I
have ever seen. They've even got one shadowy attack-dog organization likely
ready to spend $250 million on its own with the sole purpose of destroying
Democrats. It will take a nationwide wave of grassroots energy to fight back.
Our ideas are better and our candidates are better. Democrats are already
leading no fewer than six races, and they are running strong, strong challenges
to Republican incumbents in at least five more.
The only way we lose is if Republicans outwork and outspend us. Today,
thousands of us can pledge that won't happen.
No matter how good things are looking for us, winning nine seats is a tall
order. Republicans are fighting to hold onto power with everything they have
