You can do whatever you want as a breeder.  I try to rotate my rams every 
year and find one that has the traits that I want without inbreeding...  I 
kept one for 2 years and had low birth weights.  Not sure if it was from the 
dry pastures or inbreeding.  I can control the inbreeding, I can't 
irrigate...
