Jody,

The Barbados Blackbelly Sheep Association Int'l. (BBSAI) is the registry for American Blackbelly sheep. They have an open registry, meaning that you may register your lamb as long as she meets AB breed standards. Her parents do not need to be registered. You may download a membership application and registration form from the BBSAI Web site at http://www.blackbellysheep.org.

When you join the BBSAI, you will be asked to choose a Farm Name and a three-letter designator. You can register your lamb using your farm name and the BBSAI will assign her a number that includes your three-letter designator. For instance, let's say your farm name is Selkirk Farm and you want to use your initials as the farm designator. I don't know your middle name, but let's say your initials are JJS. You could name this lamb Selkirk Farm Bambi and her registration number would be something like JJS04081039AB. You can learn what each number in that series means at http://www.blackbellysheep.org/faq.html

Congratulations on being a new American Blackbelly sheep owner!

I saw no ear tags and I do not think the Flock has an official name. What are my chances of getting her Registered? Or should my next Lamb be Registered already?
