In my opinion, vaccines are very different than wormers. Wormers are medications designed to eradicate parasites, and should be used when animals actually have the parasites. Vaccines are designed to prevent an illness from occurring. In some cases, they are viral illnesses where no effective treatment exists if the animal contracts the virus. On the other hand, there's no reason to vaccinate an animal if there is a minimal or non-existent risk of contracting the disease. Vaccines do no good in non-susceptible animals. And some diseases are regional. And since it's a real quiet Wednesday for me, I'll go out on a limb and say vaccines don't have a negative effect on the gene pool. It may even be a positive one, but I'd have to research that one.
