I just had a mama BBB die - the first time I even noticed her being out of sorts was one day before she died and what I noticed was the others pushing her out of the feeder - but she was eating and I did see her chewing her cud. Later that day she was stumbling and weak. That night, she wouldn't eat. I gave her antiboitics and B12, but the next day she died with apparent pneumonia. She had twin babies about 1 month ago; I've owned her since April and she has been fine - the only friendly BBB I owned - an excellent mother.
Today, I noticed another BBB and a Katahdin limping on one of their front legs - I don't know if it's just a coincidence or if that first BBB had something that has been given to the others. Does anyone know of any sort of disease/poisioning that begins with a limp, especially on the front leg? I have seen limping, un-coordination, loss of appetite, etc with Lantana poisoning, but these sheep are all out in the full sun with no apparent problem, and all Lantana poisioning I've seen they are very light sensitive. Thus far, the other two that have a limp have no other symptoms or problems - eating well, chewing their cud, etc. If anyone has any ideas, I would definately appreciate it!
