Bobbie, do you remember that seemingly perfect, simple solution to the
naming troubles? The solution was to try and change "Barbado" to "American
Blackbelly." I'll bring everyone up to date because there have been a lot
of new members since the discussion: Barbados Blackbelly and Barbado are
such similar breeds that their names get mistakenly used interchangeably,
even by members of our list. The breeds are even supposedly supposed to
look exactly the same in the female half. The horns of the male and the
horn-gene inside both sexes are the only distinguishing characteristics. And
because no one can see the "horn-gene," innumerable troubles have been had
by breeders who thought they were getting Barbados Blackbelly and ended up
with Barbado. I repeat; this is because the names are used
interchangeably!!! If there is now a way for us to change the "Barbado"
name, let's do it.
