The problem being that the Storeys don't list themselves as participating in the scrapie eradication program, which means that their sheep can not legally be transported across state lines. The only online listing I've found *in* Washington is:

http://www.geocities.com/compactcd/burringtonsheeppage.html

There are two breeders in the BBSAI directory in Oregon who are listed as participating in the scrapie program, and could make good candidates for breeding stock for anyone living in western Washington:

Rudy and Shannon Kaplan (Chehalem Mountain Ranch)

Beth O'Mahony (Coyote Creek Ranch)

I know of a few people in eastern Washington who have Barbado sheep, but they all come from the same stock as mine. So while there are lots of people I *could* buy a ram from, they are all related to the stock I have right now. Someone in western Washington could probably pick up a ram from out here with minimal hassle, though. If anyone would like contact information, email me privately and I'll send it to you.

Julian

PS: Does anybody know the penalty for "importing" a sheep from a non-participating breeder? "Don't ask, don't tell" may be the way to go... you can always feign ignorance.

Check the web site breeders section for the Storey's in Oregon. They had 12 rams when I was there last month.
