The guy at the processing plant got him weighed, & shooed him down the aisle (he was 140 lbs). We went to weigh the lamb (70 lbs) the ram came back up the aisle, darted past me & went airborne. (Barbados love to fly.) A friend was behind me & to the left... he caught the ram in the forehead & is sporting a nice goose egg above his right eye.
The ram ran out of the pens, down the driveway, turned right & ran up the road. The weighing guy & 2 others ran after him.
The weighing guy had failed to close the one gate that had the sign on it "keep this gate closed".
The driveway area isn't perimeter fenced. The driveway doesn't have a gate. There is no fence or gate at the edge of the road. This processing plant is deep in the middle of nowhere. Corn fields, woods, swamps... everything but houses & people.
Men on ATVs were mobilized to go looking for him... but had not spotted him by the time we left.
The processing people say a neighbor will call when the ram shows up. Barbies are rather crafty, I dunno if he'll be dumb enough to go begging to any neighbor for food. I can't decide if it's good he's escaped or bad... it's horribly stressful for him, that I know.
I'll keep you posted.
