What happens when you start a dock-app with the "-w" option? The slit
does not appear? Well, then take a look in your ~/.blackboxrc:
session.screen0.slit.placement: TopRight
session.screen0.slit.direction: Horizontal
session.screen0.slit.onTop: False
session.screen0.slit.autoHide: False
Set these to your liking and you should find it.
Or is there a way to compile BB without the slit so that it is disabled
altogether?
