Heh, don't worry, think of it as a learning experience :)

Generally (and I've never used Mandrake, so I could be wrong) but you log
in through some graphical login manager (typically xdm, gdm, or kdm).
You'll find a file somewhere around /etc/X11/xdm/Xsession that uses the
information you provide when logging in to launch the correct window
manager.

Usually, if the user has a file in their home directory called .xsession
(note the '.') commands will be read form that rather than the system
defaults. Simply creating this file "should" do the trick. As far as I'm
aware this will work under RedHat >= 6.2 and Slackware 8.0 - maybe a
Mandrake user could confirm this?
