After spending several hours debugging bbkeys (and learning a little bit of X programming) I found the problem: The video card depth configuration!

I have a Raptor GFX video card on my Ultra 5 and I had it with 8+24 depth (who knows whataheck that means) bbkeys couldn't even open the frame window.

xwininfo shows depth 8 but bbkeys thinks is 24. Tried forcing bbkeys to set depth 8 but didn't work either.

I just changed the video depth to 24 and voila, it worked.

Anyway, just wanted to put this on the record in case somebody has a similar problem or could figure out what the real issue is.

Hi!

I am trying to get bbkeys working with blackbox on solaris, but so far
every time I run it I get "cannot connect to window manager" and needless
to say, whenever I press a bound key, it core dumps.

I am using bbkeys 0.8.6 on blackbox 0.65.0 on Solaris 9, compiled with
gcc 2.95.3. They were build with the standard ./configure; make ; make
install

On my xinitrc I have:
	/usr/local/bin/bbkeys &
	exec /usr/local/bin/backbox

Has anybody managed to get blackbox+bbkeys working on Solaris9? After a
lot of effort I managed to get blackbox invoked through the dtlogin
(/etc/dt stuff) but now bbkeys is driving me crazy!

I had a glance at the code at it seems like it 'connects' to the Window
Manager through a local socket, netstat shows /tmp/.X11-unix/X0 and ls -l
shows it as owned by root:root but +rwx for all, would this be an issue?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanx!
