Anarky,

I'd suggest just using xscreensaver... run it in the background when you
start up blackbox (in your .xinitrc, .xsession, or however your distro
does it) and then it can be configured by running:

xscreensaver-command -prefs

This lets you pick blanking and locking times (as well as other config
options). For locking manually I have a shortcut setup with bbkeys that
runs:

xscreensaver-command -lock

There's all sorts of fun you can do with xscreensaver when you get right
down to it (My favorite is "xscreensaver-command -watch" which outputs
all sorts of state information about xscreensaver, which in turn can be
wrapped in a perl script, or what not, to trigger scripts on different
xscreensaver events).

Of course, remember that blackbox it's self has nothing to do with the
blanking of your screen, that's all taken care of by an external process
of some sort.

Thanks,
Tim.
