Yes I do, not much though, but I try to at least fix the bugs which are found.

But it doesn't sounds like bbappconf is the tool you are looking for, there is 
a tool called bblaunch which can launch an app on a certain workspace. I 
don't know where you can find it, maybe someone else on this list does.

The size probably has something to do with the code to draw on the desktop.
