I had the same i18n problem. I added this line to blackbox.cc right after the 
#includes:

bt::I18n bt::i18n;

Why this problem only exists for some people and not others, I'm not sure.. I 
also had to use the g++-2.95 compiler, I couldn't get g++-3.2 or g++-3.3 to 
work with Blackbox.
