Summary: problems with shading

Initial Comment:
I just upgraded from blackbox 0.65 to 0.70beta and had
some problems with shading. So I tried current CVS
and the problems remain. I'm running fedora core 1.
There are two issues:

1. auto-unshading

with gnu emacs (v23.2 or current CVS), I can shade
the window, but if I then try to move it at all it
spontaneously re-opens itself

2. no shading

some applications will not shade if I double-click on the
titlebar and if I right-click on the titlebar the entries
"Send to workspace", "Occupy all workspaces",
"shade", "Always on top", and "Always on bottom" are
greyed (I can see them, but cannot select them).

These applications are xmaple (http://www.maplesoft.
com/) and acroread (http://www.adobe.com) v5.0.9.

Perhaps there are compilation options I am missing, but
shading worked fine with v0.65
