I have used rxvt configured with --enable-transparency (adds support for
inheriting parent backgrounds which gives a fake transparency). It seems
like most packaged versions of rxvt are not compiled with this capability.
rxvt -fg forestgreen -fn 10x20 -ip
-ip|+ip
Turn on/off inheriting parent window's pixmap;
resource inheritPixmap.
