I had exactly the same problem with xmms 1.2.3 and bb 20000910. I fixed
it somehow by completely removing xmms and recompiling it AND installing
bb version 20001006. I'm not sure which action solved it. The problem
hasn't occurred anymore.
I'm sorry I can't give any more useful information...
