I tried switching styles, of course, but to no real avail. The
display on a sparc-linux box was fairly bad for any style when
compared to the display on an i386-linux box, for identical blackbox
setup. (I was thinking that it could be a sparc-vs-i386 issue, but
hmm, the boxes have different color depths which may account for the
difference.)
John Kennis suggested me to set up colors in $HOME/.bbtools/bbpager.bb
which was the way to go. Thanks.
