I don't know the answer to your borderless windows comment,
but I never saw anyone respond to your PS...

I place bbpager in a horizontal slit with my workspaces laid
out in two columns.  The relevant lines from bbpager.bb:

!** width and height of the pagers model
!** of the desktop windows
bbpager.desktop.width:          35
bbpager.desktop.height:         35

!** define the number of columns, the number of rows will
!** grow as desktops are added (vertical orientation) 
bbpager.columns:                2

!** define the number of rows, the number of columns will
!** grow as desktops are added (horizontal orientation) 
!bbpager.rows:                  1

Note that you only have to specify either columns xor rows,
the other will take care of itself.
