I haven't found anything better, faster, more configurable and better
suited for my needs than mutt (http://www.mutt.org). One of the
features I like best is real threading and that I can use $EDITOR (vim!)
to write the mails. Have a look at

Of course, all this has nothing to do with KMail under BB, as I have no
experience with that client :)
