The only thing that's changed as far as software goes before I started having the problem is that I installed nvidia's drivers for my card instead of the 'nv' driver that comes in XFree86. I also installed a new cdrom. I did those two things at about the same time and I've been getting crashes since then. However, my memory was only about three weeks old, didn't see any crashes during those 3 weeks but maybe it's starting to act up now?
