Hi, I have been using black box for years and love it. However on my current system, Mandrake 8.1, X 4.1 I have run into a very serious problem.
I tried installing a Style (bluesilver) from themes.org which used an artwiz font, mint I think it is called. As soon as I started it my whole computer froze. Nothing could wake it up. I even tried pinging it from another PC and no response. Mouse was dead too. I rebooted and removed the RPM I had built myself, and then tried installing a standard Mandrake RPM. Same Problem. However this time, because no apps were running I was able to right click for the menu and select Electric Eyes to view some possible backgrounds. Wham !!! Complete freeze, AND this happened a 3rd time. I came across a similar problem a few weeks ago when I tried to install bbpager. I compiled and installed bbpager ok, but as soon as I typed bbpager & everything stopped, completely. Is this something I have done ??? Surely a minimal window manager should not be able to crash the entire system. I have no trouble when using the standard Styles that came with Mandrake. I just had a look in /usr/share/blackbox/styles and noticed the owner/group was root/root on all the other styles. With the silverblue style it is 1000/1000. Could this be the problem ??
