Ditto.  memtest86 is fantastic for detecting memory-related problems
(e.g. spurious bitflipping).  Use v. 2.8a (you may need the precompiled
version).

Hmmm ... i seem to remember hearing that these machines were somewhat
flaky to begin with.  [checks...]  Can't seem to come up with any
specifics, though.  May just be rumor; disregard.

Are you using the kernel-2.4.9-13 update?  You may want to consider it;
it's got quite a few bugfixes vis-a-vis the 2.4.7 kernel that ships
with RHL-7.2.
