No kidding. To everyone who wants eye candy - go find an old Mac Quadra
(any model) or a IIci. Load NetBSD/mac68k on it, and then compile
BlackBox for it. I started playing with NetBSD on a IIci with 40Mb of
RAM and a 33Mhz 68030 processor and BlackBox ran ok, but even xterms
showed some lag. After that, I found a Quadra 800, clocked it up to
32Mhz (64Mhz) and loaded it with 48MB of RAM. It ran substantially
better - but KDE was still not an option. BlackBox was very nice on this
hardware though.

This was last year - I gave the machines away when I moved. There were a
lot of guys who wanted this hardware, and the Mac68k port is still quite
active.

If you want eye candy, there are plenty of window managers that will get
you going. If you have older hardware, but you don't want an ugly WM
(like fvwm or twm), then BlackBox is a very beautiful alternative. In
fact, in a lot of ways, I prefer BlackBox because of its simplicity.
There is little to distract you.

You can only like eyecandy when you have cycles to spare. When you work

on something like a sparc 5, eyecandy just pisses you off...
