i think thats what it is.  if i right click some flash
to bring up the menu, and then click elsewhere in the
window, the flash menu disappears.  if i go to another
workspace, the flash menu is sitting right there.  i'm
sure either switching the page or closing the browser
is what would cause the menu to turn white.  good
call.

i wasnt sure whether xwininfo would be of any value
but i couldnt think of anything else to try on it. 
never knew of xprop.  i just ran xprop on the flash
menu, and it didnt return anything, it just ran and
returned me to a prompt without outputting any text.
