It's X11, you aren't supposed to understand it :)

John, do you by chance have a screenshot we can drool over?  For what it's 
worth, I compiled blackbox on an IRIX machine and ran it remote on a 24bit 
TrueColor LSB display (an Xnest on my main FreeBSD workstation).  I 
haven't actually tried it out on a local IRIX display though.  I'm curiuos 
to see if there are problems with the image rendering code.
