For future reference, the options I modified in /usr/lib/X11/xdm/Xserver are: - changed "-pseudomap 4sight" to "-pseudomap pseudo" - added "-depth 24" - added "-class TrueColor" I do remember reading something similar to this somewhere else, but I'm not sure where. This also seems to be related to a thread posted by Wes Brown back in March 2000 called "blackbox visual depth on SGI's Xserver". As he said, the default visual on SGI's X server is always a pretty low-end one, but better ones may be available, and there doesn't seem to be functionality in Blackbox to override the visual or determine the best one.
