Needed a few seconds to figure out what you meant, since you omitted the first part: typing a '.' to show up the text entry field ;-)
I think it's a solution I can live with on my macbook. With a full sized keyboard I use the num-pad '=' key anyway and this works as expected. So, thanks for the comment.
